Local Wynwood Shops

December 7, 2021

One of the big draws of visiting Miami is the locals’ vibrant energy and style. Just like many Wynwood murals showcase the immense creativity of our local talents, so do our homegrown boutiques and shops.

Wynwood is a center for the arts, so it’s also always ahead of the trends when it comes to all things shopping and fashion. Whether you’re looking for new stylish sneakers, silky face serums, or booming sound systems, the strong entrepreneurial spirit here has resulted in top-notch shopping spots. Here are a few we love.

Base, the grandfather of Miami concept stores, originally opened on Miami Beach’s famed outdoor mall, Lincoln Road in 1989. Even then, it was at the forefront of a trend of bringing together curated looks, smells, and sounds for sale all in one space. This sleek men’s boutique offers a delightful taste of high-end street fashions — including sneakers, sunglasses, colognes, and even some hand-crafted designs by local artists — that will always remind you of that incredible time you spent stylin’ in Wynwood.

For a true taste of Miami magic, make sure to visit (and maybe never leave) Frangipani — a concept boutique framed around the city itself. This is not an upscale souvenir shop though, it’s a store that features an array of colorful lifestyle, apparel, kids, and other products that are uber cool and creative. It’s a spot locals also frequent when they want to buy a memorable gift for someone whose taste they admire or themselves.

Verde Market

Verde Market works to lower customers’ carbon footprints in a way that is fun and useful. The inviting store offers more than 200 items — including laundry detergent, garbanzo beans, moisturizer, and spices — that are available for refill. That means you bring or buy a container and fill it up onsite to reduce waste and live more sustainably. You may just end up bringing home with jars of organic flax seeds and Be Well Love Ur Self Herbal Tea in your carry-on!

Nomad Tribe

If your look is as stylish and bold as the murals that line the Wynwood streets, you’ll want to check out the designs at Nomad Tribe. The threads sold at this socially conscious, sustainable, upcycled store are ecologically responsible and feature a range of clothing lines for men and women. What we love best about Nomad Tribe is their mission to support small family-owned shops and create a positive social impact.

Across the street from the Wynwood Walls is a destination for the latest in-demand sneakers, designer styles, and lifestyle products. UNKNWN was co-founded by former Miami Heat player, activist, and GOAT LeBron James with Jaron Kanfer and Frankie Walker Jr. It’s more than just a store that’s a magnet for high-end streetwear aficionados with a hankering for Comme des Garçons and Madison Margiela. UNKNWN also has its own apparel brand — Unknown LDN. With a basketball court that does stints as a football field where games are played at times, and spacious courtyards, it’s a community venue that connects its crowd with experiences, workout classes, and exclusive collaborations. Be sure to check out the art installation by Miami frequentors, New York Sunshine.  Let your good taste and love for LeBron be your guide at UNKNWN.

The flagship store of this fashionable clothing brand is located in Wynwood. The owner established OFY to improve options for men’s fashion in Miami. Opened in 2013, it started as a curated retail space for established and emerging designers. It’s maintained its focus on sustainability, quality, and comfort, as well as its one-of-a-kind shopping experience.

Walt Grace Vintage

The founder of this one-of-a-kind vintage store, Bill Goldstein, was inspired by a John Mayer song — “Walt Grace’s Submarine Test, January 1967” to both name his store and build his own submarine. This sleek shop sells pre-owned and vintage cars and guitars that also features art on display and a cafe with coffee and baked sweets.
